Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father left the family members, she was raised up by her mother, godparents and grandmother. In her early years she was suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder that caused anxiety due to the word association. Ford started to become fascinated by acting when she was a teenager and joined the National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after a short period of days, she concluded that this school wasn't suitable for her. Ford, instead of applying to Central School of Speech and Drama and winning a placement on her third attempt made an application and secured a place at Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. But, before then, Ford made a television debut, appearing in Surgical Spirit in an episode from 1990. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Through the Nineties, Tate could be seen on television in programmes including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. Tate also performed regularly in theatres, before eventually being a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate was soon recognized for her stand-up comedies, that were added to Tate's selection in the year 1996.
